Hydrogen peroxide can be used for a lot of things. It is used to treat and clean wounds, whiten and clean teeth, treat mouth sores, clear out waxy buildup in the ears, and of course, clean and sanitize just about every part of your home.

One of the most tiresome household chores is removing molds. Molds are fungi that grow both indoors and outdoors. They thrive in damp, humid places in the house, including the bathroom, under the kitchen sink, basement, etc. Molds may appear harmless but they can cause a number of health problems. Coming in contact with molds or even inhaling them can trigger an allergic reaction. For sensitive people, it can cause an asthma attack. Exposure to molds can also cause fungal infections and irritations to the skin, eyes, nose, throat, and lungs.

The most effective way to remove molds is by using hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen Peroxide is a combination of hydrogen and oxygen. It is a natural bleach and oxidizer and appears as a clear liquid. Hydrogen peroxide is commonly used as an antiseptic, and disinfectant.

To get rid of molds using hydrogen peroxide, first gather all the things that you will need:

• Spray bottle

• Brush

• Vinegar

• Paper towels

• Sponge

• Soft cloths

• Laundry detergent

• Space heater

• Dehumidifier

Mix one part

to three parts water and pour the solution into a spray bottle. It is necessary to dilute the hydrogen peroxide in water, even though it is a natural product, because of its bleaching properties which could damage the surface you are trying to clean.

Next, spray the mold-infested area and the entire surface with your hydrogen peroxide solution. Let it stand for about 10 minutes and then scrub the surface using a firm-bristle brush. Rinse the entire surface with warm water and then dry it with paper towels. If mineral deposits form on your tiles, apply undiluted vinegar then wipe them away with paper towels.

If you are cleaning moldy wooden objects, spray hydrogen peroxide a few inches away to avoid soaking the wood. Make sure to mist lightly when you spray because wood has a highly absorbent surface. Scrub using a nonabrasive sponge to avoid scraping the surface and then rinse with warm water after about 10 minutes. Let it dry under the sun or by using heat. Use this process on wood furniture, decks, and fences. For really large surfaces, consider using a insecticide spray bottle instead of a spray bottle for wider distribution.

To remove molds from old books, dampen a soft cloth with your hydrogen peroxide solution and dab it over moldy spots. Take a second cloth, dampen it with water and use it to remove the hydrogen peroxide. Handle each page with care to avoid ruining them. Leave the book open to dry.

To remove molds on clothes and other fabrics, add ½ cup of hydrogen peroxide to your load and set your washing machine to "hot." For best results, do not pop your clothes in the dryer. Instead, leave them out to dry in the sun.
